DRUIDS, FAIRIES AND WITCHES:

the Celts in the English Renaissance imagination

While Renaissance scholars, poets and humanists were combing the Greek and Roman past in search of the sources of European culture, art and thought, others were dreaming at the foot of stone circles and megaliths. They delve elsewhere, turning to the Celtic world. This is how the druids were reborn in the European imagination, and how their stories, beliefs, folklore, and fictions came together. Explore the period from the 17th to the 19th century through philosophy, witchcraft, magic, theatre, poetry, and secret societies in this unique workshop.
