The renowned Highland Games return to the Festival celtique de Québec 2024 at Domaine de Maizerets on September 8 and 9.

Composed of seven events, the official origin of the Highland Games dates back to the reign of Malcolm Canmore, with the aim of training his army in different tests of strength and power.

From the 16th  century onwards, the games were transformed into a festive occasion. Although, for kings and chiefs, they remained a selection method for their future escort. Over the decades, the rules evolved to normalize the heavy events, now performed by men and women.
